A Detective Story, A Love Story, A Font

P22 Type Foundry proudly announces P22 Marcel, a brand new script typeface from P22 in the tradition of the P22 Cezanne and P22 Dearest typefaces. P22 Marcel is available as a basic font or as a Pro font with over 1300 characters packed with OpenType features. Marcel was also just chosen as one of the distinguished faces awarded a prize in the current Type Directors Club competition.

The font Marcel is named in honor of Marcel Heuze, a Frenchman who was conscripted into labor during World War II. During the months Marcel was in Germany, he wrote letters to his beloved wife and daughters back home in rural France. Marcel's letters contain rare first-person testimony of day-to-day survival within a labor camp, along with the most beautiful expressions of love imaginable. The letters - stained and scarred with censor marks - were the original source documents used by designer Carolyn Porter to create a script font that retains the expressive character of Marcel Heuze's original handwriting. Carolyn spent years on the design and took the project even further by translating the letters she found and eventually contacting the family.

Along with the main Marcel typeface, there are two fonts featuring historical post marks and inspector marks, plus a roman titling font designed to accompany the script.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, this new script font set has a timeless elegance and casual grace to work for all projects where a fresh script is needed. Introductory sale pricing is available through February 28, 2014.

A book is currently in development which will tell the story of the design of this font as well as Carolyn's remarkable and exhaustive search to learn the fate of Marcel Heuze. The book is being published with the approval of the Heuze family.

Service Bidding App to Present at SXSW Interactive

Austin-developed service bidding app, ServaBid, selected from hundreds to present at the SXSW Startup Spotlight event. ServaBid's app is based on customer need and uses rapidly evolving smartphone technology to connect customers with service providers. To find professionals in a particular field, users upload video "Tasks" showing/describing projects they want completed. Paris, France - Deadpan Dodo Art Factory has released a major update for the mobile game Famous Athletes PopArt Quiz, a free trivia game, where the aim is to guess the names of the sportsmen in the drawings, after they received a complete makeover. The game is available on Google Play, Apple App Store and Amazon App Store, for all iOS and Android devices, including the Kindle family.

"After the first version of Famous Athletes PopArt Quiz proved very successful, we decided to update the game to offer even more content and an overall better look, and finally port it to the Amazon appStore," said one of the creators.

The game offers a wide range of the most well-known athletes of football, tennis, soccer, basketball, boxing, swimming, golf. The player has to guess the name with a given set of letters. There is a total of 7 levels in this version, ranging from easy to difficult, two tips (athlete's nationality and sport) and a letter-by-letter button to help the user if needed.

"When we first came up with the idea of Famous Athletes PopArt Quiz, we knew it would demand gamers to have a vast cultural knowledge in sports, but the challenge of this game is what sets it apart from other guessing games available: Simple concept and gameplay with deep content. It was with those requirements in mind that we decided to do a game that everyone could enjoy." commented the CEO of Deadpan Dodo.

Famous Athletes PopArt Quiz was designed and created using HybriD*, Deadpan Dodo's proprietary game engine, based on the lua SDK Corona from CoronaLabs. HybriD* supports all iOS devices, all Android devices, as well as all Kindle readers.
